Sound for the Film

Once I had the whole film planned out, it wasn't difficult at all to find the perfect sound or music for the film. The beginning of the film is my girlfriend and I acting happy and in love and then I propose to her. The most famous happy marriage montage in all of movie history has to be the scene from "Up". So I had to use the track, "Married Life", for my film. It just fit perfectly.

I had to find the uncopyrighted version of the song. So I looked for a cover of the song on YouTube and the first one that popped up worked. Here is the link for the song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbwGn9zJtQI. The song is covered by The Piano Lab. All I had to do now to put the song into my film was convert the YouTube video into a mp3. Once I converted it I put it into my film on iMovie and cut it to fit the length of the beginning of my opening. Here is a picture of the editing process of the music.

Editing the Film

Editing the film was actually pretty easy. I thought it was going to be way harder but it surprisingly wasn't. I edited on iMovie and not Adobe Premier because I just couldn't really find how to download it onto my computer and sign in. I asked everyone if iMovie is good enough and they said yeah so I just used it. My girlfriend and I filmed all the scenes in order so it was easy to put them straight from my camera roll into the app.

The only obstacle I encountered while editing was just that iMovie automatically has these really corny transitions after every shot. I just had to take this off and obviously fit the videos to the right time but besides that it was fairly easy. I chose music from YouTube so I had to convert it into an mp3 and then put it in the film. But I went more into that in my "Music for the Film" blog.

I really learned a lot about editing through this project and it even motivated me to play around with Adobe Premier during class. I hope to do something else like this for the class in the future. Here's a picture of me editing on iMovie.

How Filming with my Girlfriend Went

Collaborating with my girlfriend on this creative project was a lot of fun. It's not only an opportunity to work together towards a common goal, but also a chance to deepen our connection and strengthen our relationship.

The fact that we were able to get a lot done in just two hours is a testament to how well my girlfriend and I work together. When we have good communication, trust, and respect for each other, we can accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. It's clear that we both were focused on the task at hand, but also able to have fun and enjoy each other's company at the same time.

Having a positive and enjoyable experience while working on a creative project can also have a positive impact on the end result. When we are relaxed and having fun, we are more likely to be creative and come up with innovative ideas. We are also more likely to take risks and try new things, which can result in a more interesting and engaging final product.

In summary, it's great that I had so much fun and a productive time working with my girlfriend on my film opening. The fact that we were able to achieve so much in such a short amount of time while enjoying each other's company is a testament to our strong working relationship. This project really brought us together.

Filming

So surprisingly it only took me one day to finish filming the film opening. It only took my girlfriend and I two to three hours to film absolutely everything. We filmed it all at her house right after school in the afternoon. We did about three shots for every take and I honestly had fun filming it. We would laugh in almost every shot so it kind of got frustrating. I am also a person who loses focus a lot so after every shot I wanted to do anything else but film. But it was very fun.

My girlfriend and I took turns filming. She filmed the shots that I was in and I filmed the shots that she was in. In the shots that we were both in we either asked her little brother to film it or we set up the camera somewhere. We didn't have a tripod so we had to be creative on where to set up the shots.

Overall, we worked really well together to finish all the filming in only a few hours and have way over two minutes of content to choose from. We worked well together so I will most likely use her to help me with the CCR as well. Here is us working together.

And here are some of my favorite shots from the film

Group Meetings Pt.2

Today in class Ms.Stoklosa made us get in groups and talk about our projects. I thought I was very behind because I have finished filming but not started editing. But some people are on the same boat as me. I am just really behind on the blogs. But I am not too worried because I know everything will be ok. Filming for me went pretty good, all I need to do is edit and then start my CCR. I am a bit worried about the time I have left with the CCR. I’m thinking about doing a PowerPoint voice over, and then a talk show with my girlfriend as the host.

Lucas and Maddox were really helpful, giving me tips on how to edit and ideas for the CCR. They also showed me all their blogs so I got some inspiration from that. Overall I think the group meetings went very well. I think we all just want to get the project over with so we can relax. Well at least I want to. The experience of filming and planning was fun, but man did I hate the blogs

Blog Analysis

  • I reviewed Ryan’s blogs and it was very engaging. What made his blog posts so engaging was the fact that he would add pictures of him in his costume, pictures of the plane he flew, and actual parts of his movie. Almost all of his blogs had pictures of something that had to do with his project which kept the blogs entertaining. The content in his blogs were also very descriptive. He didn’t leave a single piece of information out. He took us through his whole process, even the ups and downs.

I definitely learned a lot from his blogs. I have to start incorporating many more pictures to keep my audience engaged and not make it bland. I could also make the content that I write more engaging by being descriptive and by talking to the reader. Throughout his blogs, Ryan had highlighted words. These words were usually specific equipment that he was going to use or in one case a specific location of where he was going to shoot. Once I clicked on the highlighted word it took me to a page that showed me the piece of equipment or the location. I found that really cool because it gives the audience extra information on the things he’s talking about.

I reviewed Riley’s blogs. She did not have as engaging pictures of the filming like Ryan did but the content she wrote about was well spoken. She definitely did a lot of research because she sounded as if she knew exactly what she was talking about. Most of the pictures she put in her blogs were either about editing or her research. Realistically there was really no need for her to upload pictures of her film because in the Genre Conventions and Representation blog that she did, she explained what she used from the genre in her film and how it came together.

What I learned is that her blogs were very organized and so was she. She had a well created schedule and according to the blogs she followed it. From her blogs, I learned that organization and planning is very important. I am also not very good at editing, and reading her blogs kind of helped with understanding not just editing, but also Adobe Premier.

    Changing the Scenes and Script

So I was really just thinking about my film and I thought I could make it way better. So I originally had the idea that a teenager found out she got cheated while being on the phone with her ex. I thought it wasn't a very good idea at first but then I tried to think of more creative ways people got caught cheating. Then Shakira and Pique came up to mind. I remember the story being that Shakira loved this certain food and only bought it for herself in the house hold. She bought the food, left it at home, then went on a trip. When she came back all the food was eaten. She was suspicious and later found out that Pique was having an affair.

So I decided to do that instead. I found that it's pretty creative and it will make for a great suspense. I think at the beginning of the film opening I will do my girlfriend and I getting married, and then she will go on vacation and come back to an empty jar of some food. I hate jelly so we will probably do an empty jar of jelly. I think this is a way better idea than I originally had and I have to thank my mom for telling me how Shakira and Pique broke up.

    Script (definitely could change)

Scene starts with showing the door to Zara room

Camera enters the room and the shot is of her sitting on the bed with her back facing the camera

    CCR Brainstorm

So today in class Ms. Stoklosa did a lesson on the CCR. When she first talked about it a couple weeks ago, I thought it was going to be like a whole paper on my reflection of the project. But I learned today that it is actually a fun way to reflect on the project.

She showed examples of how the CCR should be done. I loved them all but the one I liked the most was the talk show. I think that idea is simple yet very entertaining and engaging. While she was showing the talk show excerpt I was thinking about what I could do with the talk show. I was thinking maybe I could play two different characters, the host and the director. The host would be in a suit and a moustache played by me, and then the director could be a guy with a funny accent. He doesn't speak English well so it would add some comedy to it. And it would also be played by me. The other thing I could do is have my dad be the host and then of course I'll be the director.

My second CCR could be the just the talking head to the camera. But of course I add scenes from other movies and from my movie to make it more entertaining. I could add images and clips as well, and not talk with a dull background.

    Get to Know Antonio

So this person is the main character but he is a big part in the film. His name is Antonio and he is Zara's boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend. This character will be played by my best friend since Pre-K, Matias Torres.

Antonio is a 17 year old who goes to high school in Weston. He has been dating Zara for almost two years. He is a funny, confident guy who has many friends. He loves to go out and spend time with friends at parties and clubs. He plays sports and goes to the gym. He is a good guy, his undying loyalty to his friends and the people he loves is unmatched. But when it comes to relationships he is not very loyal. His unloyalty in relationships makes him question if he'll ever be able to settle down and get married in the future. To girls he is seen as a cocky asshole, but to guys he's seen as someone their willing to die for. He loves to travel and see the world. Climbing mountains, beautiful views, exotic locations is what he lives for.

Here is a mood board for Antonio

    Romantic Comedy Genre

Romantic comedies, also known as rom-coms, have been the most popular subgenre of romance. Some of the most popular rom-com movies are, When Harry Met Sally, Crazy, Stupid, Love, and Something's Gotta Give. These movies typically do well because they rely heavily on their target audience. Which can change depending on the type of rom-com.

Teen rom-coms are aimed at people ages 13-20. The setting is usually in a school and neighborhoods. An example of this would be The Kissing Booth. Adult rom-coms are aimed at people ages 15-40. They typically take place at a workplace or a family home. They contain crude humor and sex scenes. An example of an adult romantic comedy would be The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Traits that make up romantic comedies are natural dialogue and a well-written script full of humor and light moments. These simple traits have aged well for many years. Dating all the way back to a classic romantic comedy, Trouble in Paradise. This movie came out in 1932, almost a century ago.

One movies I took inspiration from is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The movie is definitely not a complete rom-com but it does have some elements of it. I also want my piece to not be a full rom-com but I do want to implements some of those traits. I remember watching that movie expecting it to be funny because I saw Jim Carrey. But when I finished it I was left in complete awe. I thought it was going to be a cheesy romance film but it was not that at all.

This movie also deals with "cheating" in a way. With no spoilers of the movie, the girl Carrey wants is seen with another man. I want to recreate that feeling Carrey felt when he saw that man with her. I remember the face he made, I could feel all the emotions he was feeling. After everything they went through, it ended just like that. In a blink of an eye what was once Carrey's was no longer his. I hope to recreate this.

    Get to Know Zara

So here is the queen herself and what she is about. So the main character is a woman and she is played by my girlfriend Agustina Tolosa. In the movie however her name will be Zara.

Zara is a short, 5'2-5'4, Hispanic girl who lives in the suburbs of Weston. Zara is 17 years old and goes to high school with her boyfriend Antonio. She has been dating Tony for almost two years now. When she grows up she wants to study interior design. She loves to help people and is more worried about others than herself. She is a very sensitive soul and loves to party. She moved to Weston about two years ago from Argentina. When she got here is when she met Tony. He was the only person to be friendly and kind with her when she first moved here. She loves animals and has a dog herself.

    Film Opening

Here is my film opening. Enjoy!
